The Cool Kitchen in Crouch End

There is an understated cool about this kitchen, something an exposed brick wall can be guaranteed to bring perhaps? A little industrial chic, a confidence to roll with this raw material on show. The palette too, with Pluck cupboards in Coldharbour Grey and London Plane, is pared back and monochrome. A reassuring insouciance to the noise there can be around colourful interiors, a bold commitment to the absence of colour.

This Edwardian house is home to a family with teenage children, a time in life when generations can start to really appreciate each other’s hobbies. A sofa next to Mission speakers, a spot it’s easy to imagine all ages covet, is included in this kitchen. It speaks of shared moments in music, a relaxed convivial space.

The choice of appliances is a celebration of beautiful quality design too; a range cooker from Italian heritage brand Bertazzoni, the Sage barista coffee machine…both  tell the story of our clients, people who take what goes on in their kitchen seriously, effort has been made to get the kit and kitchen to indulge their passions!

Layout-wise, a traditional galley is given a little extra flourish with the peninsula. This extends the galley to the other side of the room, meaning the sofa sitters can interact with those in the kitchen.

Behind those sofa sitters are custom floor-to-ceiling shelves by Pluck, designed to house aforementioned speakers, vinyl, books and curiosities. The Coldharbour Grey picked up here too, a shade that then creates a visual link with the kitchen cupboards.

Thanks to elegant Max Light glazing this kitchen has uninterrupted natural light. Huge panes of glass, create a sense of drama; their scale making no bones about the intention to let the maximum amount of light in, whilst creating a large scale artwork of the garden through the seasons; including the cycles of a much loved weeping willow, that when we visited had its feathery silhouette on show.

This kitchen with its mix of freestanding and fitted furniture, old, including the cupboard from Church Street Antiques and the reclaimed parquet flooring, and new, exudes a laid back, sophisticated vibe, that we are really enjoying. We can imagine many fantastic breakfasts, dinners and everything in between here.
