The story begins at The Mix, the East London interiors destination on Vyner Street, home to Pluck’s Award-Winning Kitchen. Curated by Bert & May, The Mix unites British interiors brands, and there’s bundles of inspiration inside. Samples galore…we loved the idea of being able to create interior schemes/vibe trays/mood boards (whatever your preference!), and so, we scoured well-known online auctions and found a vintage tray…

Upon the exciting arrival of our tray we were shocked/delighted to discover it was actually made a few doors down on Vyner Street in the mid 20th century! WOW! A little wander down the road, we found 25B, where D. Harris Trays Ltd were based and the tray was crafted. As you may be able to tell, we were so thrilled by this, we had to share the story! Having started its life on Vyner Street, the tray has now returned…

…and here it is in Pluck’s kitchen at The Mix! A handcrafted wooden beauty, the tray is now used as a backdrop (and practical carrying device) for curating palettes at the East London creative hub on Vyner Street. Filled with Pluck’s colours and woods, fabric samples, tiles, paint hues and door furniture…it’s a joy to be able to create beautiful schemes at The Mix.

A space curated by Bert & May celebrating British design brands with craft, creativity and character at their core, our vintage tray returning to Vyner Street seems so apt!

We’d love to see you at number 67…if you’re lucky you may even get an Otis welcome! Along Vyner Street you will pass old local boozer The Victory, literally next door to 25B! We like to imagine this was a historic spot for the talented craftspeople to unwind after a day’s tray making!

And so the tale of the tray comes to an end! We really were so excited to discover this vintage tray was made on Vyner Street and we feel it’s an honour to return it to its home. We’ve since been wondering…what has the rest of its life looked like? Has it travelled around the country, been passed through generations, or maybe not ventured so far? The mystery remains unsolved!
