“For the second year in a row we have won a Livingetc Style Award and we are absolutely thrilled. It’s a real honour to have our kitchen designs recognised and celebrated – huge thanks to Pip Rich, Executive Editor of LIvingetc and his esteemed panel of judges. Our show kitchen at The Mix by Bert & May is a microcosm of just how exciting and brimming with talent the British interiors scene is right now, brilliant brands bringing their craftsmanship, unique aesthetic sensibility and delectable creations into our homes.” – Leila Touwen, Pluck Co-Founder

ABOUT THE DESIGN
We were delighted to create a Pluck kitchen for The Mix. It’s an industrial interior – raw and rough at the edges – so we wanted to juxtapose this with some really rich and warm colours and wood. We took inspiration from traditional members’ clubs with oak panelling, leather Chesterfields, and brooding hues.

The Library at The Reform Club and the Bar at the Savile Club
The unique palette combines Aubergine from our Eco Colour collection with London Plane wood, which has a beautiful flecked grain. There is a little Brockwell Moss for the interior of the glazed cupboard. Sitting in the fore is a Turnmill Prep Table in British Oak. The Lundhs Antique® natural stone worktop from our friends at Gerald Culliford has a flecked textured finish, dappled brown tones with a hint of iridescent lilac and an ogee curved upstand behind the sink. THE LOCATION
Step through the painted black doors of a cool East London warehouse and you are immersed, enveloped, hugged by a cosy interiors emporium – colour, pattern, texture, lighting, and layers of luscious fabric and tiles to explore. The Mix, founded by handmade tiles specialists Bert & May, unites British design-led brands.
As founder Lee Thornley explains, this is “This one-of-a-kind destination brings together a curated collection of distinctive interiors brands – each with their own story, style, and passion for making. The Mix is more than a showroom. It’s a meeting place for designers, makers, and anyone who loves interiors with soul.”
THE COLLABORATION
The collaborative spirit of The Mix is evident throughout our kitchen design. Armac Martin crafted bespoke brass handlebacks to match their shelf brackets, whilst Curiousa created lighting from their hand-blown glass and porcelain collections. The sink is from Whitebirk, walls are painted in Farrow & Ball hues and finished with Bert & May tiles.
