The Glamorous Camden Kitchen

This room was the canvas for our chic client to express her passion for travel, sumptuous interiors and Italian fashion. With glinting surfaces, tactile finishes and considered colour, there is something subversive about this glamorous kitchen, the design doesn’t follow standard rules. It is a cheeky, confident, fun and deeply personal space.

The Pluck cabinetry is Ritzy, the coral pink has a powerful presence when used en masse. Here the colour dominates one wall, serving as the backdrop for the room. The recessed handles have brass backs to complement the brushed brass worktop that includes a waterfall island; a real statement piece which combined with the velvet chairs, feels like a nod to fabulous nights out at bougie bars.

The location of the hob, oven, sink and fridge follows the golden triangle rule, which essentially means they are within easy reach of each other. The larder incorporates a plug, a perfect spot for the coffee machine helping to keep the worktops free from smaller appliances.

The floor is a stunning bespoke terrazzo with multi-coloured glass flecks like jewels. It’s another surface that has a high impact, exudes glamour and is a tribute to Italian design. A theme that continues with the Dolce & Gabbana Smeg fridge with its fiery red and orange hues and bold pattern. The hand-decorated Sicilian tiles on the splashback echo the aesthetic.

There is plum coloured snug adjacent to this kitchen, a cosy room for curling up in front of television. Here Raspberry and London Plane fluted glass cabinets by Pluck are nestled on either side of the fireplace, one slightly shallower in order to incorporate chimney structure. The Ritzy of the cupboards is echoed in the ceiling here, so as you walk between the rooms there is a colour connection.

There are so many showstopping elements to this kitchen, but perhaps the most dramatic is the majestic lemon chandelier. A holiday purchase from the iconic Delicatessen S.N.C. in Positano on the Amalfi Coast. It is like an artwork, an installation, a shrine to lemons, life, the Mediterranean, holidays, good times – which sums up what this kitchen is all about!
