The Scandi Chic Kitchen in Brighton
This elegant kitchen is the vision of Anna Newton, whose discerning eye is behind lifestyle guide, The Anna Edit, that inspires hundreds of thousands people weekly. Confident in their minimalist aesthetic, Anna and her husband Mark had researched their kitchen extensively before initial design consultations with us began.
Speaking to Ideal Home they said “We love a bit of Scandi chic…spaces that feel really quiet and calm, but with warm and cosy features too. We realised that it was always wooden kitchens we were drawn to. They felt warm and homely but classic at the same time.”
We sourced beautiful Sweet Chestnut wood veneers for this project, the honey tones and swirling grain contrasting with the other major surface in this room – the mottled, cloud grey of the polished concrete floor. The recessed cabinetry handles are brass, that will develop a characterful patina over time.
The layout of this room is guided by the huge windows, the back wall is the perfect spot for the main run of cabinetry – all appliances are located here, along with a larder too. The island provides additional storage and extra worktop, whilst acting as a natural, central focal point.
The new kitchen is ‘a real hub for everyone. We all seem to congregate here when friends are family are over and there’s plenty of room for our little one to play while we make dinner or tidy up’. We’ve heard sunsets are particularly special at the end of a busy day with the kitchen enjoying views of the glorious garden designed by Fern & Pine and landscaped by Ali Walker…dreamy!
Said Ideal Home, ‘alongside architects Flower Michelin and interiors by Rebecca Wakefield, the couple completed their dream supplier team with a kitchen from Pluck ‘…they were really great to work with. The quality of the kitchen really is one of the best parts of the build”. Thank you Anna and Mark!
